This Laguna Niguel home originally featured a one-piece flip-up wooden garage door, a classic California design from the 1980s. While iconic, this outdated door came with significant drawbacks. The arc of the door required vehicles to park 4 feet away, limiting driveway space. Non-insulated and prone to absorbing water, these heavy wooden doors often strained the motor, creating reliability issues. Frequent repainting was necessary to maintain its appearance, and the outdated design offered minimal clearance, losing valuable headroom. Additionally, replacement parts were increasingly difficult to source.
